Dear Mum,
We would like to start by saying that we had absolutely no idea.
No idea that the noise level in the car was, in your words, “a genuine safety hazard.” No idea that you had already answered that question three times. No idea that “just five minutes of quiet” was a completely reasonable thing to want at 7:30 in the morning.
We’d like to formally apologise for the following:
The school lunch situation. All of them. Every single time you drove back. We saw the look on your face and we chose not to acknowledge it. That was wrong.
The homework that was “finished” but was not finished. We think you knew. You definitely knew. We’re sorry you had to pretend otherwise.
The phase where we said “I’m not hungry” and then immediately asked for a snack. We understand now that this was a lot. We understand now that “a lot” might be an understatement.
Every time we asked where something was and it was in the exact location you said it would be. Every single time.
The Saturday mornings. We knew you were tired. We asked you to watch something anyway. You watched it. You didn’t complain. We know now what that cost you.
The questions. There were so many questions. We had no concept of how many questions there were until we tried to count them. We stopped counting.
We’d also like to acknowledge that “because I said so” was, in retrospect, a completely valid answer every time you gave it. We were wrong to push back. You were right about all of it.
On this Mother’s Day, we would like you to know that we see it now. All of it. The 6am wake-ups. The costume that needed to be finished the night before the parade. The birthday cake that somehow appeared despite everything. The way you showed up, every day, even when showing up was genuinely the hardest thing on offer.
We think you are excellent.
We think you deserve a day where no one asks you for anything.
We think you deserve a hat that says exactly what you’ve been thinking.
With love, and a significant amount of retrospective guilt,
Your Kids
If no one in your life has written you this letter yet — consider it written. Consider it delivered. Consider it the most honest thing that’s been said in your house all year.
And if you’re buying your own Mother’s Day gift because it’s easier that way, we respect that completely. A Wear Sassy hat is the move. It says what this letter says, but in fewer words, and you can wear it to brunch.

What sizes do the hats come in?
Our hats are adjustable and designed to fit most head sizes comfortably. Check the individual product page for specific sizing details.
How long does shipping take?
We ship Australia-wide. Standard shipping takes 3–5 business days. Express options are available at checkout — because some hats are needed urgently and we completely understand that.
Can I return or exchange a hat?
Yes — if your hat arrives damaged or isn’t quite right, get in touch at hello@wearsassy.com and we’ll sort it out. We want you to love it.
Do you do custom or personalised hats?
We do! Custom orders are available for hen’s parties, birthdays, and any occasion where a group of women need coordinated headwear. See our custom options here.
Are the hats suitable as gifts?
Genuinely the best gift you can give someone. Better than a candle. Better than a bath set. A hat that says exactly what she’s been thinking all year — yes, that’s a gift.
How do I care for my hat?
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Reshape while damp and leave to air dry. Do not machine wash. Treat it well — it’s doing a lot of work for you.
